Toxic Babies

Hello, Friends!

I want to encourage you all to begin a journey of self-empowerment when it comes to your health and the health of your future family. Knowledge is truly power so you must do your research. Don't simply rely on one doctor's opinion.

I don't have any kiddos at the moment (my two dogs are my kids for now, LOL), but I'm facinated to learn what I can be doing now to increase the health of my future offspring. What I've learned is incredible. Specifically, the importance of cleansing and detoxifying my body prior to conception, because toxic chemicals used in everyday non-organic farming, as well as beauty and other household products, are harmful to you and your child (before, during and after pregnancy). More and more, we're learning about the continuous negative effects these toxins have on all of our lives.

How cute are these little buddies?!There's a reason why in the US and other industrialized nations, issues like toxemia (a dangerous condition that pregnant women face where their blood pressure becomes elevated and they face a myriad of complications like premature labor, stroke, renal failure, and convultions among other things, while their baby faces growth restrictions, separation of the placenta and possibly death.) are on the rise. If you read this article and take a look at their list on how to prevent toxemia, their suggestions are largely all about proper nutrition and exercise, which of course are important, but they fail to mention the huge amount of toxins one is exposed to through the body's largest organ: the skin!

What's Wrong With What We Eat?

Livestock is the 2nd highest contributer to atmosphere altering gases. Nearly 1/5 of all greenhouse gas is generated by livestock production, more than transportation...but there's more, like half the antibiotics in this country are not administered to people, but to animals. -Mark Bittman

Hi everyone!

First, I'd like to thank my friend, Jen from Boston, for sending the below video. The information is so compelling that I though I'd share it with you all. It's a TED Talk with New York Times food writer, Mark Bittman, who in 20 minutes does an outstanding job of explaining the history of food in the United States, why it's important to eat locally-grown food, and how eating less meat can save our bodies and the planet (something many have no idea about).

Mr. Bittman also touches on the role that Government plays in the food industry. The unfortunate truth is that the USDA and Government is not our friend when it comes to health. Of that I'm certain of so don't take their word for anything. Do your own research to make healthy choices in your life.

From the information you'll learn here, you may choose to make changes in your diet that will help you get rid of and prevent disease/illness for everyone in your family. Cheers to a higher quality of life!

Join Me In NOT Supporting Animal Cruelty

Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures." - His Holiness, The Dalai Lama

As an animal lover, I felt compelled to write about the atrocities that are committed to captured animals at the hands of circuses like Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Carson & Barnes, Cole Bros. Circus, and many others across the country. The only way to get this terrible business to stop is by educating ourselves, passing along the shocking truth about the treatment of these animals to friends and family, and not supporting animal circuses with our patronage.

These wild animals don't belong trapped on railroad cars or in cages! They belong in their natural habitats! Sadly, they've been kidnapped from those habitats, and are chained, beaten, burned, and even electrocuted, all so they'll perform tricks for ticket buyers.

But there are people out there who care and are speaking out. One such person is Alec Baldwin:

Spice Up Your Salads

Fresh herbs like cilantro and parsley, have wonderful cleansing properties and can help extract heavy metals and other toxins out of the body." - Kimberly Snyder, "The Beauty Detox Solution"

Why I never thought of this before is beyond me. I'm so used to using herbs and spices when cooking, but I never thought to add it to my salads, which I eat every single day!

For the last two nights, I've been adding fresh rosemary from my garden, parsely, turmeric

Live Your Dream Life And Be True To Yourself

It all comes down to love and relationships in the end...When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind.

Hello my dears,

I came across an old email today from one of my acting coaches, Crystal Carson, that I thought I'd share as I found it incredibly insightful. We're consumed in life by the very things so many regret on their deathbeds. I say lets learn from their regrets so we don't have to have them ourselves! This email was a gift. Thank you Crystal!

She sent this email to her students on 1/12/12 wishing us a Happy New Year:

In the words of a palliative-care nurse who's spent much of her life listening to people on their deathbeds, here are the Top Five Regrets of the Dying.

My Homemade Toothpaste

As I continue to find cleaner beauty products for me and my family, I realized one thing was still missing. Good toothpaste! I've been on the hunt for a quality, clean and completely natural toothpaste for a loooong time now. I did find a great salt-based one at Whole Foods but it was WAY too expensive for toothpaste so I decided to channel my inner Martha Stewart and embark on making my own. I emailed Dr. Silkman, my totally brilliant holistic dentist, for suggestions, did some research online, and started experimenting.

The results? I'm a VERY happy camper!...and so are my teeth : ) Here's the wicked easy recipe:

Here's what my toothpaste looks like.Organic Toothpaste

Indian Healing Clay (which you can also use for facials! A steal at about $6...SCORE!)

- Organic Vegetable Glycerin (softening agent)

- Organic Peppermint Oil

- Organic Tea Tree Oil

- Organic Cinnamon Powder
